Avantgarde Homes: Aluminum Stairways Project

This shows the drawings for the aluminum stairway featured on Avantgarde Building's custom home in Fort Myers

Recently, Avantgarde, The Building Group, concluded the construction of a contemporary 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 4,000-square-foot custom residence, showcasing strong craftsmanship. Bookending the detached garage, are two aluminum stairways meticulously designed, fabricated, and installed by the Liberty Aluminum Co.

Going beyond visual appeal, these Liberty Aluminum stairways place a premium on safety and endurance. The combination of a lightweight yet robust aluminum structure ensures a secure and smooth passage, while the minimalist design seamlessly integrates with the overall architecture, ensuring it doesn’t distract from the main residence.

Our Process:

Liberty Aluminum started by receiving the plans and used their tried and true process to cost out the project and provide Avantgarde with an accurate estimate. After which, submittal drawings were provided and approved by engineering and the customer. Lastly, the stairways were fabricated in our local Lehigh Acres facility and installed by our highly experienced crews. The picture above shows a snapshot of the CAD drawings and the final product.

We appreciate Avantgarde’s partnership and look forward to working with them again in the future. If you’re a local Southwest Florida Builder looking for a subcontractor for aluminum products visit our contact page or call us at 239-369-3000

Kelly and Colette with Moriarty the Mini Dachshund at the Babcock Ranch walk for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

October is a month of unity, strength, and pink ribbons as the world comes together to raise awareness for breast cancer. At Liberty Aluminum, we are proud to be joining hands with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer SWFL Chapter to support those affected by this pervasive disease. Our commitment to community well-being extends beyond manufacturing quality aluminum products — it reaches into the heart of our neighborhoods, where we stand in solidarity with those fighting breast cancer.

On October 7th, Liberty Aluminum took its first strides against breast cancer at Founder’s Square in Babcock Ranch. Our team laced up their sneakers, donned pink attire, and hit the pavement with a shared purpose — to make a difference. Plus our booth at the event served as a hub for information, support, and encouragement. If you were not able to show your support on the 7th, there is another opportunity on October 21st at North Collier Regional Park. Check out the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer SWFL  website for details.

Breast cancer is not just a disease; it’s a battle that affects millions of lives every year. By actively participating in these events Liberty Aluminum aims to amplify the importance of early detection, raise funds for research, and create a supportive community for those navigating the challenges of breast cancer. We believe that awareness is the first step towards prevention, and unity is the driving force behind lasting change.

Let’s walk together, let’s stand together, and let’s make strides against breast cancer.

Follow These Steps to Keep your Pool Enclosure Looking like New.

pool enclosure with picture window

Cleaning your pool enclosure is essential to maintain its appearance and functionality. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to clean your pool enclosure:

Use caution while cleaning and consider hiring a licensed professional cleaning company.

Materials You’ll Need:

  1. Garden hose or pressure washer
  2. Bucket
  3. Mild detergent or specialized enclosure cleaner
  4. Soft-bristle brush or pool enclosure brush
  5. Extension pole (if needed)
  6. Ladder (if needed)
  7. Microfiber cloths or soft, lint-free towels

Step 1: Remove Debris Sweep or use a leaf blower to remove any leaves, twigs, or debris from the enclosure. This will prevent debris from getting wet and sticking to the enclosure during cleaning.

Step 2: Rinse Use a garden hose or pressure washer to rinse the entire enclosure. Start at the top and work your way down, making sure to remove loose dirt and dust. A pressure washer can be very effective for this step, but be cautious not to use too high pressure, which might damage the enclosure.

Step 3: Prepare Cleaning Solution Fill a bucket with water and add a mild detergent or a specialized enclosure cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Be careful not to use harsh chemicals that could damage the enclosure material.

Step 4: Scrub the Enclosure Dip a soft-bristle brush or a pool enclosure brush into the cleaning solution and start scrubbing the enclosure. Begin at the top and work your way down, paying extra attention to areas with stubborn stains or mold/mildew buildup. If your enclosure is particularly tall, consider using an extension pole to reach higher areas.

Step 5: Rinse Again After scrubbing, thoroughly rinse the enclosure with a hose or pressure washer to remove any soap residue and dirt. Ensure that all cleaning solution is washed away.

Step 6: Dry the Enclosure Use microfiber cloths or soft, lint-free towels to dry the enclosure thoroughly. This step helps prevent streaks and water spots from forming.

Step 7: Regular Maintenance To keep your pool enclosure in good condition, perform regular cleaning and maintenance as needed. The frequency will depend on your local climate and how quickly dirt and debris accumulate.

By following these steps, you can keep your pool enclosure clean and well-maintained, enhancing the overall look of your pool area and extending the life of the enclosure.

The Ultimate Guide to Maintaining Exterior Cable Railing

Cable railing on a two story homeExterior cable railing is a stylish and contemporary addition to any residential or commercial space. It offers an unobtrusive view and provides safety without obstructing the surrounding environment. However, regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to keep cable railing looking pristine and functioning properly. In this blog post, we will explore the proper way to clean exterior cable railings to avoid rust and erosion, ensuring they stand the test of time and continue to enhance the beauty of your home.

At Liberty Aluminum we construct cable railing with stainless steel cables and aluminum railing, these materials are durable and the stainless steel cable is resistant to corrosion. However, exposure to the elements can lead to the accumulation of dirt, salt, and other debris, making the railing susceptible to rust and erosion. Regular cleaning not only keeps your cable railings looking their best but also prevents potential damage and ensures their longevity.

Necessary Tools

  • Soft bristle brush or sponge
  • Mild dish soap or gentle stainless steel cleaner
  • Warm water
  • Microfiber cloth or soft towel
  • Garden hose with a spray nozzle
  • Protective gloves

Step 1:

Before you start cleaning, make sure to remove any obstacles or furniture near the cable railings. This ensures you have unobstructed access and prevents accidental damage to the surrounding objects.

Step 2:

Using a garden hose with a spray nozzle, rinse the cable railings thoroughly. This will help remove loose dirt, debris, and any surface-level contaminants.

Step 3:

Create a cleaning solution by mixing mild dish soap with warm water. Avoid using abrasive or acidic cleaners as they can damage the surface.

Step 4:

Dip the soft bristle brush or sponge into the cleaning solution and gently scrub the cable railings. Focus on areas with visible stains, grime, or salt deposits. Be cautious not to apply excessive pressure, as rough scrubbing could scratch the surface.

Step 5:

After scrubbing, rinse the railings once more with clean water to remove any leftover cleaning solution and loosened dirt.

Step 6:

Use a microfiber cloth or soft towel to dry the cable railings thoroughly. Drying is crucial to prevent water spots, which can leave mineral deposits on the surface.

Properly cleaning and maintaining your exterior cable railings is a crucial step in ensuring their longevity, preserving their beauty, and avoiding rust and erosion. By following the steps outlined in this guide and implementing preventive measures, you can enjoy your cable railings for years to come, enhancing both the safety and aesthetics of your outdoor space. Regular care and attention will pay off in the long run, protecting your investment and maintaining the allure of your home’s exterior.

Pool Fences: Why Have One and What are the Requirements?

Owning a pool is a fantastic way to beat the heat and enjoy some refreshing fun in the Florida sun. However, it is crucial to prioritize safety when it comes to pool ownership, especially if you have young children or pets. In Florida, where pools are a common feature in many homes, there are specific requirements for pool fences to ensure the well-being of residents and visitors. In this blog post, we will delve into the Florida state requirements for pool fences, understanding why they are necessary and how they contribute to a safer swimming environment.

Purpose of Pool Fencing:

The primary objective of pool fencing regulations is to prevent accidental drownings, particularly among children. By establishing stringent guidelines for pool barriers, Florida aims to minimize the risk of unauthorized access to pools and enhance overall safety. Pool fences act as a physical barrier, creating an additional layer of protection that can deter children and pets from entering the pool area unsupervised.

Florida Building Code (FBC) Guidelines:

The Florida Building Code (FBC) outlines the specific requirements for pool fences in the state. The code defines the necessary attributes of a compliant pool fence, including its height, materials, construction, and gate specifications. Our pool fences and gates are made of aluminum, which is an approved metal according to the FBC.

  • Gates must be self-closing and self-latching
  • The latch must be at least 54″ from the ground
  • The gate must open outward from the pool
  • The space between the vertical pickets must not exceed 4″
  • The space between the pool barrier and the top of the pool structure must not exceed 4″
  • The top of the fence must measure at least 48″

Florida’s strict requirements for pool fences are designed to prioritize safety and prevent accidents. As a pool owner in the state, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the specific guidelines outlined in the Florida Building Code (FBC). By adhering to these regulations and implementing the necessary safety measures, you can create a secure environment for your loved ones and mitigate the risk of potential pool-related accidents. Remember, investing in a robust and compliant pool fence is a responsible choice that will provide peace of mind while you enjoy the pleasures of pool ownership in the Sunshine State.

RAL Color Chart: How to Select your Powder Coating Color

Powder coated welded hinged shutters
All right! You’ve made the right choice selecting Liberty Aluminum to design and fabricate your aluminum railing, canopy, grille, balcony, louvered shutter, etc. but before your product can be installed it must be powder coated. The RAL color chart is the gold standard among powder coaters.

Powder coating is a dry mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin. It is typically applied using an electrostatic spray gun. The gun imparts a positive charge to the powder particles, and the grounded aluminum attracts the charged particles, ensuring even coverage. Then it is cured, cooled, and inspected for quality.

You get the fun task of choosing the color of the coating. Here are a few things to consider when selecting your perfect shade.

1. Consider the Purpose and Environment:

If it’s for an outdoor application, select a color that complements the surrounding environment and blends well with the landscape. If it’s an indoor product, consider the color scheme of the space where it will be placed. Harmonizing with the surroundings will create a visually pleasing overall aesthetic.

2. Explore Trends and Styles:

Staying up to date with the latest trends in color can help you make an informed decision. Research current design trends and color forecasts to identify popular choices. However, remember that trends can change, and it’s important to choose a color that will stand the test of time. Opting for timeless and classic colors can ensure your aluminum product remains visually appealing for years to come.

For your convenience we have included an RAL chart below…

The colors in this chart have been matched as closely as possible, computer monitors colors can vary, as such, it would be recommended to use an actual color chart or come on in and see us for samples!

Carports: Why You Should Consider add them to your Community

Multi family carports

Condo Community with Multiple Carports

Carports are an advantage in multi family living communities. They provide a variety of benefits, including keeping cars cooler in the summer, avoiding rain storms when loading or off loading your car and helps keep cars clean from animal or landscaping debris. Plus constructing them out of aluminum makes them more cost-effective, durable, and keeps them in compliance with local regulations.

Cost-Effectiveness

Aluminum is the most cost-effective material to make a carport. At Liberty Aluminum we sell roll form carports because they are less expensive and last longer in the Florida climate. The Roll Form design consists of interlocking aluminum pans with a surrounding edge for protection.

Durability:

Aluminum carports are highly resistant to corrosion and weather damage, making them a durable and long-lasting option. This means that the carports will require minimal maintenance and can last for many years. Regular inspections from your property managers or facility maintenance managers are advised to make sure the structure hasn’t been damaged. After all, residents may cause damage to the carports with their vehicles.

Convenience:

Carports provide convenient covered parking for residents, which can be a significant benefit in Florida summers when it rains or when it is a very hot day. Carports can help to improve resident satisfaction and retention.

Compliance:

In some areas, local regulations may require apartment complexes to provide covered parking for their residents. Avoiding potential fines and legal issues is always recommended.
